Jack Osbourne Marks Major Milestone

It’s a joyous day for the Osbourne family, and a birthday of sorts for Jack, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne’s youngest child.

The 33-year-old father of three celebrated a whopping 16 years of sobriety yesterday, a journey that’s been so painful and overwhelmingly difficult at times – but on the other side, so unbelievably rewarding that it must be impossible to look back on the last 16 years and imagine ever getting to this point.

Jack took to Instagram to quietly mark this major milestone in his life, sharing a breakdown of the months, days, and hours that brought him to this point and reflecting on his incredible journey so far.

“By far this has been not only the toughest year of my life but also the toughest year of my recovery. I have learned so many things about myself. Some good, some not so good. But I continued to do it sober even in the face of legit pain and sadness. From divorce, to learning how to be a single father of 3 little girls, to showing up for my family when they have needed support the post. If at 17 someone told me where I’d be at 33 with 16 years of continual sobriety I would have laughed and told you to f— off.

Even though this last year of sobriety was filled with so much pain it all led to some fantastic personal growth. I would love to tell you I managed this by being some kind of spiritual giant who roams the halls of recovery meetings, but it’s not the case. I’m here writing this today sober because of the friends in my life who showed up for me when I needed support the most. I will forever be grateful for all you did. You know who you are.

I love you all. “Through my years of darkness, some spark of spirit remained in me, helped me survive until I found my way into A.A. Then, nurtured by the program, that inner spirit grew, deepened, until it filled the emptiness I had so long felt inside. Step by step I moved to a spiritual awaking. Step by step I cleared up the past and got on with the present”
-The Big Book”

He’s not kidding when he calls this “the toughest year of my recovery”.

In addition to dad Ozzy dealing with numerous health scares, hospital visits and setbacks, Jack and wife Lisa Stelly ended their marriage last year shortly after the birth of their third and youngest child, Minnie Theodora. More recently, he was attacked in a Studio City, California coffee shop by a homeless man.

Much like his mom, dad, and sister Kelly, who last year achieved her own milestone as she reached 1 year of sobriety, Jack Osbourne is a tough cookie. We couldn’t be prouder of how far he’s come, and we’re so excited to see how far he’ll go.

Congratulations on 16 years of sobriety, Jack!
